Man Begins to Emanate a Heavenly Light and Thereafter Begins to Perceive Himself
(Excerpt from book Discourse On Chuang Tzu / Chapter 23 Keng-sang Ch’u)
He whose mind remains at a standstill and rests in grand serenity will emanate a heavenly light. It is said that he who emanates a heavenly light begins to perceive himself. When a man has successfully cultivated himself to this degree, he can thereafter preserve constancy within himself. Though humankind will withdraw from one who preserves constancy, heaven will assist him. Those from whom withdraw from humankind should be called the People of Heaven; those whom heaven assists should be called the Son of Heaven.
宇泰定者，发乎天光。发乎天光者，人见其人，物见其物。人有脩者，乃今有恒；有恒者，人舍之，天助之。人之所舍，谓之天民；天之所助，谓之天子。
